There are a few mounties in our ranks, but it's mostly civies. The pipe bands are made up mostly of civilian volunteers. An RCMP pipe band was in attendance while an RCMP horse was gifted to the Queen. We've performed at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo (sadly I was not in attendance), the Belfast International Tattoo, we've sent bands to China, Mexico, we've got gigs in Europe and United States coming up, and have had bands play at the Menin Gate and at the Vimy memorial. The pipe band program consists of pipe bands across the entire country, sometimes coming together for composite massed band gigs. The RCMP is a historically mounted policing unit, and the force breeds world class horses, some which are gifted to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll.
The RCMP is Canada's national police force, but the RCMP has peace keepers around the world, and even has a war time history in the first world war. Unlike a piano, the keytar sends computer messages using a protocol called MIDI, that say “I played this note, this hard.” Then the software receives the information from the instrument and synthesizes the note with different sounds. Because of the way it’s held, it’s probably best used for one-handed solos, rather than 2-handed playing that is more common with the keyboard on a stand.
